Netflix’s much-awaited first-ever Tamil Series “The Game: You Never Play Alone” Premieres on October 2
Netflix, the global giant in the OTT arena, launches its first Tamil original series of 2025 on 2nd October – The Game: You Never Play Alone. Having already established a formidable presence in the Hindi content space, the platform takes a significant step forward with this Tamil web series directed by Rajesh M Selva—celebrated for his stylish thrillers Thoonga Vanam, Kadaram Kondan, and the acclaimed web series Irai.
Premiering tomorrow, The Game: You Never Play Alone unfolds across seven gripping episodes. The series features Shraddha Srinath and Santhosh Prathap in the lead roles, with Chandini Tamilarasan essaying a pivotal character. At its heart, The Game explores the hurdles and emotional turbulence faced by a couple working in the gaming industry. With social media playing a critical role in shaping their personal and professional lives, the series promises a layered narrative that resonates with today’s digital age.
Director Rajesh M Selva says, “The series explores the lives of a married couple working in the gaming industry and how the growing influence of social media begins to intrude into their personal and family space. At its core, it is about the impact of online abuse and the struggles of navigating through those troubled waters. Beyond their journey, the narrative also highlights how social media affects diverse characters, including a female police officer, a 15-year-old girl, and a 65-year-old woman named Vasantha. ‘The Game’ is both a reflection of our times and a deeply human story.”
Shraddha Srinath says, “I play Kavya, an aspiring game developer who has built her career through sheer determination. She is outspoken on social media, which brings her admiration, but also criticism and hate. When these virtual conflicts escalate into real-life threats, Kavya is forced to navigate dangerous situations while balancing her personal world—her family and young niece. In many ways, she represents the modern working woman who is constantly juggling professional ambitions with personal responsibilities.”
Santhosh Prathap says, “Audiences are familiar with me in strong, macho roles, but in ‘The Game,’ I step into the shoes of a game developer, which required me to break away from that image. I deliberately avoided the usual physical preparations like gym routines or heavy grooming and instead focused on subtle, character-driven nuances. My aim was to convince the audience through authenticity rather than appearance. I believe this series will allow viewers to see me in a new light and bring a different kind of recognition.”
