COLORS Tamil’s Namma Ooru Thiruvizha Celebrates the Coastal Achievers from Cuddalore

 The beautiful sea town of Tamil Nadu, Cuddalore, played host to COLORS Tamil’s popular show Namma Ooru Thiruvizha and celebrated the outstanding achievers of the city, especially those who have been worked for the society.

The show will be aired on June 9th, capturing the gala night in Cuddalore that brought the who’s who of this city known for its amazing temples and other historical and architectural monuments.

Hosted by the effervescent Kiki and Vijay, Namma Ooru Thiruvizha proved to be a mega hit with the audiences enjoying the on-stage banter and the entertainment lined up for them.

The occasion was graced by many favorites of COLORS Tamil too, including the much-liked couples Santhosh-Janani and Deepak-Preethi from Thirumanam. Lead artists of Oviya, Malar and Thari were also present, engaging with the audience and playing games with them.  

The Oviya girls, along with Srinithi-Sabari of Thari and Deepak-Preethi of Thirumanam, also charmed the crowds with their live performances. Celebrations soared to great heights as the night also witnessed electrifying performances by Singing Stars contestants Chinnu-Sangeetha and the Sri sisters. Dance versus Dance fame Ragavi & Ashwathi and Guru & Tanisha also joined the party and put forth a rocking dance show for the lively crowd.

The following achievers of Cuddalore were recognized for their exemplary contribution towards the city:

  • Ms. Valli

Valli is a compassionate 42-year-old from Cuddalore who runs a school for mentally disabled children. She is well-known for her 15 years of dedicated and extraordinary service towards these kids. With the support of the government, she runs the school for 38 students with 2 teachers and 1 doctor. She aspires to continue her service for orphan kids by now building hostels for them.

  • Ms. Sangeetha

Determined and ambitious, 17-year-old Sangeetha successfully completed her +12 exam in Veranamur from Irular community. Sangeetha’s parents suffered as bonded labors for 20 years. She managed to overcome all her hurdles with the help of actor Sivakarthikeyan, who helped her financially to complete her education.

  • Mr. Jose Mahesh

Age is no constraint for social service proved Jose Mahesh, an energetic 26-year-old from Cuddalore. He has already rescued more than 100 abandoned senior citizens and helped them by providing food and accommodation. For his excellent service, he also received a cash prize of 50,000 INR from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy. He extends his exemplary services to counsel youngsters on family bonding and also the importance of family well-being for the future. Adding on, he has also received the best youth award, a Doctorate from The Universal Tamil University.

  • Mr. Mariyapan

Mariyapan, a 57-year-old retired HM from a Government School, has adopted 33 children and trained them to play football. Mariyapan has been providing education and sport support to orphans for the past 14 years. His young and energetic team is ranked Top 18 in Indian Football and many of his students have also represented our country in Asian football games.  Under his guidance and support, the students have found jobs in Railways while a few of them have also become sub-inspectors.  

  • Mr. Sasikumar

Sasikumar, the Principal of Government Primary School at Koonichampet, has brought various reforms to his school and uplifted the lives of many young minds. He has received many awards and cash prizes for his exemplary work towards the school, like,

  • National Award and Ranked No. 1 for Swatch Vidyalaya 2018 by MHRD Govt. Of India
  • National Award and 1st place with Rs 3,00,000 cash prize for ‘My Toilet Cleaning Tool to Improve Sanitation’ by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Govt. Of India
  • Awarded Best school in India by Puducherry Chief Minister with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000
