The Chennai District Masters Athletic Association is conducting the XV District Masters Athletic Meet on 3rd September,2017 at Jawaharlal Stadium from 6.30am to 5.30pm.
This meet is for all men and women above the age of 35years. The senior most athlete in mens is 90+ and woman is 85+. Most of the Chennai athletes have represented Tamil Nadu in Nationals, Asian Meets and World Meets.
The events are conducted at par with youth .We have the following events for all categories . The grouping for competition is done as 35to 40yrs , 40to 45 yrs, 45to 50yrs and so on upto 95+.(every 5 yrs is one age group).
Walking: 5 km
Runs : 100m,200 ,400, 800, 1500, 5000, 10000m
Jumps : High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault
Throws : Shot Put, Discuss Throw, Hammer Throw, Javelin Throw
Steeple chase at State Level and National level.
In the Inter Districts Meet i.e Tamil Nadu state meet Chennai Dist. has always been the Champions and at the National Level Tamil Nadu are the Champions.The Chennai athletes have won Gold , Silver and Bronze medals at the Asian Meet and World Meets for many years.Even this year also we have wonthe medal. Maximum winners are from Chennai.
The State Officials will conduct all the events in both A and B Ground for all age groups.
Our President Mr Shenbagamoorthy sponsors and provides Coffee, Tea, fruits, buttermilk, sundal, Lunch for the Officials and All Athletes. The Gold and Silver medalist are selected for the State Meet and Kit is given to athletes.
President also gives Cash prize to the Chennai athletes who win at the National and International Meets.
Famous actors and personalities are invited to give prizes throughout the day.
